After 15 years of building a profitable company, my partner and I recently sold our business for a lot of money to Konica Minolta, a Forbes Magazine Global 2000 company.
That windfall profit did not just fall in our laps. Josh and I poured buckets of blood, sweat, and tears into our business. To be sure, we had some luck. Along the way, we made some decisions that really paid off.
I'd like to tell you about one of those
that make a huge difference.
Back in 2000 or so, we were novice entrepreneurs looking for salespeople for our business, America's Remote Help Desk. We had to scratch and claw. Trying to figure out how to hire good salespeople was challenging. CareerBuilder was just starting back then. I put up some ads. We posted want ads in the Baltimore Sun.
We hired some good ones and some not-so-good ones. I used my sphere of influence to bring in a lot of people over the years.
